Ruby in colour, the nose is complex with red fruit and wild thyme and floral aromatics. The palate shows plenty of cherry and red fruit characters supported by some complex savoury elements. Drinking beautifully now, the wine will reward cellaring.

Reefman vineyard lies on a north-facing, thyme-covered hillside on the outskirts of Alexandra. Its elevation, steep slope and schist soils are reminiscent of the premium vineyards of France. Made by trophy-winning winemaker Matt Connell.

4.5 Stars: Grown on a steep hillside vineyard near Alexandra, this is a very graceful red. Full, bright ruby, it is invitingly scented and floral, with vibrant, cherryish, slightly spicy flavours, showing good complexity, balanced acidity and ripe, supple tannins.

Showing obvious potential, it’s well worth cellaring to 2026+.
